More than 3,000 kids from day care centers and summer camp programs attended the Bronx Harmony Day Picnic Tuesday, an annual event that aims to give a fun lesson in staying healthy.

Kids who attended the camp enjoyed free rides, games and giveaways.

The event is co-sponsored by the New York City Police Department, and officers say that is another lesson kids can take away with them.

“They get to see another side of us,” said NYPD Assistant Chief Carlos Gomez. “The real important side, that we care for them and their families and all the people in Bronx.”
