Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced that its new 4G LTE network and improved 3G service will be available in Bronx and Brooklyn beginning on July 30, 2013. With Sprint 4G LTE, New Yorkers in these communities will experience faster speeds for surfing the Web for great Italian food options on Arthur Avenue or sending videos from concerts in Park Slope.
As Sprint continues to make progress on its new 3G and 4G LTE network, customers in Bronx and Brooklyn will find 4G LTE and enhanced 3G wireless service in even more places around their boroughs and beyond.
Wireless users in these parts of New York can make the most of summer fun by signing up with Sprint, the long-time leader in offering unlimited wireless services. Plus, with the groundbreaking Sprint Unlimited Guarantee, available with an Unlimited, My WaySM or My All-inSM plan, customers can get unlimited talk, text and data while on the Sprint network guaranteed for the life of the line of service. In addition to Bronx and Brooklyn, customers are finding 4G LTE in parts of Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens – which are expected to officially launch service in the coming months.
“Whether you’re uploading videos from your neighborhood in Brooklyn or sending photos to your friends, Sprint 4G LTE provides impressive wireless data speeds,” said Karen Paletta, regional vice president-Sprint. “We think that New Yorkers of every age and background, as well as customers of Sprint’s prepaid brands, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA will appreciate Sprint’s improved 3G service and 4G LTE.”
Sprint customers are enjoying the ability to use 4G LTE on a variety of different devices such as the new HTC® 8XT, Sprint’s first Windows Phone 8 device, the popular Samsung Galaxy S® 4 and HTC One®. “I’ve been a Sprint customer for three years,” said Bronx resident Noel Perez, “and I am very satisfied with the service. 4G is great in my area – sometimes better than my friends’ (service) on other companies. 4G keeps up with everything I do from surfing the Web to streaming music from Pandora and streaming movies.”
In more exciting news for Sprint customers in New York City, Transit Wireless and Sprint recently announced that the companies have finalized their contract to bring Sprint’s wireless voice and data service to the state-of-the-art wireless network in the New York subway system. Sprint has signed on to the full scope of the project – all 277 underground subway stations. Wireless customers of Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile can expect to begin receiving coverage underground in 36 stations in midtown Manhattan and Chelsea in early 2014.
“New Yorkers love to use their mobile devices all the time to stay connected to friends and business associates around the city,” said Keith Dardis, regional vice president-Sprint. “We are excited to provide commuters, public safety representatives and first responders in the Bronx and Brooklyn the robust benefits of better 3G service and new 4G LTE – and, this network will continue to grow in New York City in the coming months.”
