Rookie QB Matt Simms was expected to be a free agent this offseason but must have impressed the front office during last year’s training camp to consider a contract extension.
Yesterday, Simms renegotiated his contract to stay for the 2014-2015 season and is expected to make a salary of 495k during that time frame.
Simms will have another opportunity to compete for the starting job in the offseason. With Geno struggling, Sanchez likely to be cut from the team and Garrard just remaining an inactive veteran unless otherwise.
This season, Simms has had total of 156 yards, 1TD and 1INT in 2 1/2 games.
