Dear Supporter,

Building leadership through education and hands-on connection with nature is the core of programming at the Bronx River Alliance. The Alliance’s Education Program bridges the gap between our local communities and opportunities in the environmental sector.

Our EELS, Environmental Enrichment and Leadership for Students, is a year-long paid internship program. High-schoolers are given an opportunity to conduct research, receive mentorship from experts, and gain college credit in environmental science thanks to a partnership with Lehman College.

Our BOBCATS, Building on Better Careers and Trainings, is a Summer Youth Employment internship opportunity in partnership with Fannie Lou Hamer High School. Students are given an opportunity to learn, do site visits in the Bronx and NYC, and train in-the-field with Bronx River Alliance staff as teachers and guides.

Educators also made student environmental learning possible by utilizing the river as an outdoor classroom. Over 800 students visited the Bronx River on field trips and left with a hands-on science experience and connection to the river and the nature around them.

The unique experiences students gain along the corridor create a lasting interest and relationship to our natural environment. With your support, we can continue to enrich the lives of students by showing them what a valuable scientific and ecological resource it is.

Thank you for your love and generosity,

Elena Conte
