Public Hearing: Thursday, February 20, 2020

We have proposed a Final Plan to redesign the Bronx Bus Network to make service faster and more reliable. We are holding this public hearing to gather comments about Local, Limited, and Select Bus Service.

This public hearing precedes a vote by the MTA Board to implement the local bus service proposals in the redesign’s Proposed Final Plan for implementation in fall 2020. We will continue to refine the proposals for a new Bronx express bus network with the goal of implementation of those changes in 2021. We have committed to working with local stakeholders on those proposals, and will provide an update at a later time.

Hearing begins at 06:00 p.m.
Registration is from 05:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.

What is the Bronx Bus Network Redesign?

The Bronx Bus Network has not substantially changed in decades, despite tremendous growth in the borough since 2010. Increased traffic congestion, among other things, slows buses and degrades service reliability for our bus customers.

The redesigned Bronx Bus Network addresses factors that contribute to slow speeds and unreliability. It makes bus routes simple and more direct, strengthens key east-west corridors, and expands connectivity. Improved bus stop spacing and schedule changes will better match bus service to ridership patterns. Lastly, 10 corridors will receive expanded bus priority in conjunction with our partners at the New York City Department of Transportation. Implementation will begin in 2020. Learn more about the proposed changes to your bus route, stop, and schedules here.
