The 2020 Mosaic Literary Conference: Black Utopia will explore the idea of how our futures can be explored through health, education, art, and activism; and present a cohort of creative thinkers and scholars who will share how we can envision, explore, and expand discussions around urban environments, creative practice, and health & healing.
The annual Mosaic Literary Conference (MLC) presents a variety of topical, historical, and culturally themed panels and workshops that connect to our South Bronx community and reflect the issues that both elevate and oppress local citizens — development, crime, and technology among other subjects.
MLC provides a platform for literature-based creative thinking and knowledge sharing, and invites educators, parents, community and arts organizations to take part in a series of programs that build social engagement and develop education strategies.

The Mosaic Literary Conference provides a platform for literature-based creative thinking and knowledge sharing. Each year we invite educators, community and arts organizations, as well as the public to participate in a variety of workshops.
About the Literary Freedom Project
The Literary Freedom Project (LFP) is committed to creating spaces that help elevate cultural narratives. Our programs value the variety of histories and cultures found in the Bronx and give educators & residents places to build community and explore social engagement.
Towards this goal, LFP presents One Book One Bronx, develops literature-based lesson plans, and hosts the Mosaic Literary Conference.
Programs of the Literary Freedom Project are supported, in part, by the New Yankee Stadium Community Benefits Fund, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, donations, Humanities New York, and Citizens Committee of New York City. In-kind support is provided by The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Andrew Freedman Home, and the New York Public Library. LFP is a member of the Urban Arts Cooperative -supporting artists in under-served communities.
About The Book Club & One Book One Bronx
Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education invites neighbors to come together and (re)spark a love of reading. The book club normally meets in its 6th floor Gallery and hosts vibrant community-focused conversations that build a love of books and reading. The Casita Maria Book Club is presented in partnership with One Book One Bronx.
One Book One Bronx is a new style book club that inspires, encourages, and delights readers. Every week, we meet to discuss books that reflect the people of the Bronx. The book club seeks to build a culture of reading and is free to join. Please visit here for information on starting a book club at your community-based organization.
