George W. Jacobi, born December 31, 1917 in Bronx, New York City, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
Retired from the Air Force in 1967, he had lived in Florida and Virginia before moving to Lincoln in 2012. In 1943, from April until September, the young Lt. Jacobi flew 50 missions as the bombardier on a B-17, crossing the Mediterranean to deliver their payload over Italy.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and his son, David. He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Karen) and Joe; grandsons, Geoff and Matt Jacobi; great granddaughters, Ann Morgan and Campbell Jacobi; sister-in-law, Jennie (Willie) Leiter; daughters-in-law, Libby Jacobi, Susie McLean and Kay Jacobi; and an extended family including many nieces and nephews.
