February 14th, 2011—P.S. 214X students create a variety of peace projects and performances with homeroom classes and advisory groups as part of NYC’s second annual celebration of Respect for All Week.
For weeks, students of P.S. 214X have been diligently preparing their contribution to the school’s Respect Gallery. Culminating projects will be showcased throughout the week. These projects include: collages, paintings, necklaces, mobiles, flags, poems, a board game, a quilt, and videos.
Respect for All Week kicks off on Monday with a welcoming by Principal, David Cintron and a song performed by the Kindergarteners. The week closes out with the month’s Town Hall Meetings for each academy (Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School), featuring live performances from various students with themes of respect and peace.
As the great Albert Einstein once said, “Everyone should be respected as an individual, but no one idolized.”
Lorraine Hansberry Academy – P.S. 214X, in Bronx, enrolls 928 students from Pre-Kindergarten to eighth grade.
