NYPCC’s Anti-Bullying Coalition, in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), is proud to announce the annual Bronx Anti-Bullying Resource Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
With the alarming statistics revealing that 1 in 5 high school students are bullied in the US, totaling 8.2 million victims annually (NCTSN, 2022), and over 1 in 6 high school studentsbroo experiencing cyberbullying in the last year alone (NCTSN, 2022), the need for bullying awareness has reached critical levels. Moreover, nearly one-quarter of all LGBQ+ students report being bullied at school, with almost 30% experiencing electronic bullying (Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 2021).
Bullying is a complex issue that poses significant threats to emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Recognizing bullying as a nationwide crisis, NYPCC’s Anti-Bullying Coalition has organized a dynamic and informative event open to all, showcasing anti-bullying resources for parents and children alike. By partnering with community-based organizations dedicated to combatting bullying, the fair aims to raise awareness about the signs and effects of bullying, while offering preventive interventions and actionable steps.
Empowering and educating communities is key to effecting social change against the bullying epidemic. Attendees will benefit from a wealth of resources provided by community organizations and leaders, including an on-site food pantry. Additionally, they can enjoy a variety of community-building activities and performances throughout the day.
