On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) will join forces with its provider partners in the Bronx to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month and raise awareness about the wide range of free services and supports available to families in need.
The event will take place at Crotona Park, specifically at the Martin Van Buren Playground, near Crotona Park East and Claremont Parkway.
Interim Commissioner Melissa Hester will be joined by representatives from ACS’s contracted provider agencies, along with hundreds of ACS staff members, prevention specialists, government leaders, and local families. Together, they will highlight New York City’s ongoing commitment to keeping children safe while strengthening and supporting families across the five boroughs.
A central focus of the event will be promoting ACS’s dedicated Support Line 212-676-7667, a free resource available to all New York City families. The hotline connects callers with essential services including access to food, diapers, clothing, counseling, substance abuse treatment, and other critical supports designed to help families thrive and prevent crises before they occur.
As part of the observance, attendees will receive blue pinwheels—the national symbol of Child Abuse Prevention Month—representing the importance of nurturing safe, healthy, and happy childhoods.

Doctors warned that had he not received instant intervention, he would have suffered brain death.
“They told me that if I had waited three more days, I would have been brain dead,” Santana explained. “That was at the beginning of August 2023. I did not even know I had a disease. I thought I was a regular alcoholic.”
Santana had been a functioning alcoholic for years, unaware that his drinking had quietly destroyed his heart muscle. He was eventually diagnosed with cardiomyopathy — a condition in which prolonged alcohol use weakens the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively.
At his worst, Santana could not walk, could not climb stairs, struggled to breathe, and suffered severe leg swelling. He had endured multiple hospitalizations across several facilities — including episodes requiring mechanical ventilation — before a cardiology referral brought him to Nurse…

NEWS
The Bronx has long been underestimated as an economic engine. That narrative is changing fast. Independent businesses across the borough are driving a measurable shift in how money moves, where jobs form, and what the future of New York City’s outer boroughs might actually look like.
This is not a story about corporate investment or rezoning headlines. It is about entrepreneurs who opened storefronts during uncertain times and built something real — and the data now backs them up.
Digital Spending Habits Reveal New Consumer Priorities
As businesses adapt, so do their customers. Bronx residents are increasingly engaging with digital services — from e-commerce and streaming platforms to online entertainment. This shift mirrors national trends where households diversify how they spend discretionary income across both physical and digital channels.
Part of that digital diversification includes online entertainment platforms. Players across the country who explore options like offshore casino sites reflect a broader consumer pattern: spending that once flowed exclusively through physical venues is now distributed across digital platforms. For Bronx entrepreneurs building hybrid retail and online models, understanding where consumer attention travels is increasingly relevant strategic knowledge.
Bronx Entrepreneurs Lead Neighborhood Economic Recovery
The numbers tell a compelling story. New business applications in the Bronx increased by 66% between 2019 and 2021, a surge that outpaced most expectations for a borough still managing pandemic recovery. That kind of growth does not happen without genuine entrepreneurial momentum at the community level.
Organizations like the Bronx Economic Development Corporation have helped sustain that momentum by channeling micro-loans and resources directly into empowerment zones. Small retailers, food businesses, and service providers across neighborhoods like Mott…

In a moment that should shake the conscience of the civilized world, the demonuc Islamic regime in Iran has once again demonstrated the true nature of its rule. Amid escalating tensions, internal unrest, and a tightening grip on information, Iranian authorities have carried out the execution of a 19-year-old national wrestling champion, alongside two (2) other young men, for their alleged involvement in January protests.
Their names must not be forgotten: Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi. These were not hardened criminals. They were young men, part of a generation demanding dignity, opportunity, and freedom in a nation increasingly defined by repression.
This is not justice. This is political terror.
A Regime That Lies to the World
The Iranian regime reportedly signaled to the international community, including figures such as Donald Trump, that it would halt executions tied to protest activity. That assurance has now been exposed as nothing more than deception.
Instead of restraint, the regime escalated. Instead of reform, it delivered death sentences. Instead of transparency, it imposed darkness, including a reported 20-day internet blackout designed to conceal its actions from global scrutiny.
This pattern is not new. It is a hallmark of authoritarian governance: promise moderation to the outside world while crushing dissent at home.
