A film featuring actors from the Bronx, Elijah, is scheduled to screen at Yale University on April 9, 2026, at the Trumbull Nick Chapel Theater.
Directed by New York–based filmmaker Razid Season, Elijah follows a transgender son navigating family, faith, and identity within an immigrant Muslim household.
The film features Bronx actors, including Ajaz Alam in the lead role and Devon Slotnick in a supporting role.
Elijah has been screened at universities and community organizations across the United States, including the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Asian Pacific Statewide Alliance (APSA), the City University of New York (CUNY), Brooklyn Pride Center, the Muslim Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity (MASGD), and New Plaza Cinema in New York.
The film has also received recognition on the festival circuit, including the Tasveer Emerald Award at the Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle and an Audience Choice Award at the Phoenix Film Festival.
Ajaz Alam, reflecting on his role, said: “As an actor representing the Bronx, I’m honored that Elijah has been invited to Yale University. This recognition is especially meaningful to me.”

The April 9 screening at Yale presents the film in an academic setting as it continues to circulate through festivals and institutional programs.
