Third Annual African American Abrazo Banquet

Bronx Elected officials will come together to honor distinguished members of the African-American community during a Banquet in celebration of Black Heritage Month.

Close to 500 people will join Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz to celebrate the Third Annual “African American Abrazo Banquet in New York State.” This event is in honor of Black History Month and the contributions of African-Americans to our community. 

Mr. Norman Seabrook, President of the New York City Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association; Ms. Claudette Colvin a Civil Rights Activist; Ms. Sarah B. Caliman, President of the African-American Cultural Committee; Mr. Mark Errol King, Retired Correctional Officer; Ms. Etta M. White a Professional on Health issues; and Mr. Kevin Joseph Woodhouse, Chairman of the Concourse Village Youth and Cultural Committee, have been chosen by the Organizing Committee to be recognized for their outstanding services to our community.

For the past three years, New York State Senator Rubén Díaz has been celebrating the African-American Abrazo Banquet to recognize and honor members of the African-American Community during their Heritage month. This year, Assemblymen Marcos Crespo and Luis Sepulveda together with Councilwoman Annabel Palma have joined Senator Diaz to celebrate and honor these outstanding members of the African-American Community. 

Ms. Beverly Roberts, Ms. Sarah B. Wynn, Ms. Sharan Fernandez, Rev. Hiram Ratliff, Ms. Barbara Brown, Ms. Connie Hendrick, Ms. Ella Mitchel, Ms. Claudia Nisbett, Ms. Ivy D. Forde and Ms. Gerry Lamb comprised the organizing committee.

The Third Annual African American Abrazo Banquet will take place this Friday, February 21st,  2014 at Maestros Caterer’s located at 1703 Bronxdale Avenue, in Bronx.
