Bronx Community College (BCC) has earned national and state recognition for its commitment to student success, affordability and opportunity, ranking #5 among Best Community Colleges in New York State in Niche’s 2027 rankings and #7 in the nation among the Best Colleges for Hispanic Students in Washington Monthly’s 2026 rankings.
Niche’s annual rankings draw on U.S. Department of Education data covering academics, admissions, affordability and student life, as well as millions of student reviews. Washington Monthly’s rankings, produced in collaboration with Excelencia in Education, evaluate how effectively colleges serve Hispanic students, including measures of Hispanic student graduation and transfer rates, affordability and Pell Grant enrollment. The rankings also consider institutional efforts to support Hispanic students, including programming and long-range planning.

BCC students and graduates continue to achieve strong outcomes. Approximately 90% of BCC graduates are employed within one year of graduation, with the same percentage remaining employed five years later. On average, earning an associate degree from BCC increases earning potential by 35% compared with a high school diploma.
Founded in 1957, BCC is the oldest of The City University of New York’s six community colleges and a proud Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). The College serves more than 10,500 credit and non-credit students from nearly 100 countries and offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs in fields including Media and Digital Film Production, Cybersecurity, Health Sciences and Nuclear Medicine Technology. BCC also provides workforce training, continuing education and professional studies through its adult learning programs.
BCC’s 45-acre campus overlooking the Harlem River combines educational opportunity with a rich history. It is home to the historic Hall of Fame for Great Americans, while its architecturally significant grounds have earned the rare designation of National Historic Landmark.
As BCC celebrates its 70th anniversary and enters its eighth decade, Bronx Renaissance 2031 builds on the College’s legacy of opportunity while charting a new course and redefining what’s possible for the students and communities it serves.
