Warwick Police arrested a Bronx man at the Warwick UPS Customer Center at 150 Plan Way on September 13, 2019 as he attempted to pick up a package containing $8,500 in cash from a 94-year-old California resident who had been told their grandson needed the money.

Warwick Police were alerted that the package with the money was going to be delivered via UPS, the result of a phone scam, according to a statement from Det. Lt. Scott Robillard.

When Luis Valdez, 23, of the Bronx, NY, attempted to claim the package at the Warwick facility with a fake New Jersey identification card, Warwick Police arrested him, according to a statement from Det. Lt. Scott Robillard.

Warwick Police charged Valdez with Identity Fraud, Obtaining Money under False Pretenses, and Conspiracy.
