The Lehman College Department of Athletics is proud to sponsor Pink Weeks, in support of National Breast Cancer Month. The two-week long celebration is designed to increase awareness of breast cancer.

The month of October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working together to promote breast cancer awareness, share information on the disease, and provide greater access to services.

Lehman College athletics will be promoting awareness and raising funds, which will be donated to the American Cancer Society on Sunday, October 21, 2012. On that day, several Lehman athletic teams and student-athletes will participate in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, held at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NY.

Lehman has a school goal of $5,000 to raise. Several teams will hold fundraisers on campus leading up to the walk. Donations may also be made directly to the American Cancer Society’s website.

In the weeks leading up to the event, several teams will be showing their support for the cause be wearing pink shoelaces, wearing pink bows and ribbons during warm-ups and competition.

Events will include:

Oct. 12: Women’s Tennis vs. Yeshiva
Oct. 13: Men’s Soccer vs. Staten Island
Oct. 13: Women’s Soccer vs. John Jay
Oct. 16: Women’s Soccer vs. Brooklyn
