Despite double-figure points from two Spiders, the Richmond women’s basketball team fell to the Fordham Rams, 70-59, Saturday afternoon at Rose Hill Gymnasium.
Senior Kristina King led the team with 13 points, while sophomore Lauren Tolson followed with 10 points of her own. Both Spiders also brought down four rebounds apiece. Freshman Olivia Healy tallied a career-high seven assists.
Despite shooting 50 percent from behind the arc, the Spiders shot an overall 38.7 percent, while the Rams shot 61.2 percent from the floor to secure the victory. Richmond (7-10, 1-2 A-10) connected on a season-high nine three-pointers, with the help of three from King.
Fordham (14-3, 3-1 A-10) took the rebound 33-28 rebound advantage, but the Spiders forced 14 Ram turnovers to collect 17 points. Erin Rooney tallied a game-high 14 points and 11 assists for the Rams.
