Police say a man who fired at a minivan in Bronx was later hit by the vehicle and killed.
The deadly confrontation happened at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the Morris Heights section of Bronx.
Police say a romantic rivalry may have triggered the violence.
They say a 43-year-old man saw his former girlfriend in the minivan with another man and began firing a gun.
The driver took off but later encountered the gunman and ran him down.
The 25-year-old gunman was pronounced dead at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. His name was not immediately released.
Police are questioning the driver.
