City Year New York is having our 6th Annual Service Day in the South Bronx. We’re excited to have it for the first time in Mott Haven and are expecting over 300 Volunteers, including 250 middle and high school students.
On May 09, 2009, the volunteers will be performing various projects in and around the school, including painting murals at Saint Jerome’s Community Center and Lincoln Recovery Center.
Bronx Building Bronx is a prime example of the service movement at work. President Obama, Governor Patterson, and Mayor Bloomberg all have made national service a part of their administration’s priority. We are pleased that local politicians are following this lead as both Council Member Arroyo and Bronx Borough President Diaz will be attending our event on Saturday.
We hope to see you there. For further information, please contact Emily Heerema, Events Coordinator at City Heroes South Bronx. Her number is (917) 650-4141 and e-mail eheerema09@cityyear.org.
