On Saturday, February 21, 2020, the SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise honored senior swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, NY, Taft High School, on joining the men’s basketball team’s 1,000 point career scoring during the second half of team’s 84-70 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over the Gallaudet University Bison.

Claxton became the Fighting Tigers third player in men’s basketball program history to reach the 1,000 point career scoring mark since the Cobleskill athletic program made the move from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) level of competition to the NCAA level of competition in 2008. He also becomes only the fifth player in the men’s basketball team’s history, since the college began competing versus nationally sanctioned competition in 1946, to score 1,000 points in a playing career.

The Taft High School alumnus closed his career ranked fifth on the Fighting Tigers all-time points scoring list with 1,018 points in 76 games played. This season he averaged: 18.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots while shooting 56.1 % from the field, including 49.5% from three-point range, and 75.3% from the free throw line.

Cobleskill closed the season with a 16-9 overall on the year including a 10-6 mark in NEAC contests the best regular season record in the program’s NCAA era of competition.
