A lottery player who bought a Mega Millions ticket in the Bronx is a multimillionaire today. One of two winning tickets in the $333 million drawing was sold at a store on Fordham Road.
The winner’s identity will not be known until Monday, when the New York Lotto office opens. The winner will split the pot with another player who bought a ticket in California. For now, there is a lot of excitement at the Bronx store that sold one of the winning tickets, which will now get a $10,000 bonus.
“Wow. I’m so happy. I dream of this every time. I’m happy,” said store employee Michael Patel. The winning numbers are 1, 17, 31, 37, 54, and the Mega Ball number 31.
Mega Millions is played in 12 states, making it the nation’s largest multi-state jackpot game. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million.
