Death in the Family
It is with sadness that the New York City Police Department announces the death of a member of our family.
School Safety Agent Doris Kirkland passed away last night, Friday, May 22, 2020, from complications related to the coronavirus.
School Safety Agent Kirkland served as a School Safety Agent for over 30 years.
Sick Report Daily Update
On Saturday, May 23, 2020, 926 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 2.6% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.8%. To date, 5,739 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.
As of today, Saturday, May 23, 2020, 5,598 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 80 uniformed members plus 19 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus.
Let us remember and pray for the 43 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.
Citywide Patrols
Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.
Between 08:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2020:
- NYPD officers visited 3,006 supermarkets and pharmacies of which 1,236 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 7,327 bars and restaurants of which 5,599 were closed.Â
- NYPD officers visited 1,150 public spaces of which 777 were closed.Â
- NYPD officers visited 2,903 personal care facilities of which 2,903 were closed.Â
Social Distancing Enforcement
On May 22, 2020, four summonses was issued in regard to social distancing enforcement.
