Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement on the suicide of NYPD officer Johnny Rios. Rios, 35 years old, is the eighth member of the NYPD to die by suicide so far, this year:

“The tragic loss of another New York Police Officer is truly heartbreaking. We mourn the passing of Johnny Rios and offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all of his NYPD colleagues. Rios honorably served New York City for seven years, putting his life on the line to protect New Yorkers. He leaves us all far too soon. I join with everyone in this city in encouraging any law enforcement officer struggling with depression to know that you are not alone and that help is always available.”
