The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is looking into how a Bronx man died just moments after he tried grabbing a gun from a responding cop during a brief run-in with authorities, police said.

Police were called to the Belmont section of Bronx around 7:40 p.m.in response to a dispute involving two or three people, according to police.

The incident was captured on the body worn cameras.

A 71-year-old man answered the door for police, telling them that his 48-year-old son was inside his bedroom, refusing to come out. The officer’s confronted the man and repeatedly directed him to drop the knife.

“The subject then turned toward the officers, with the knife in hand”, Harrison said, “and the two officers discharged their firearms”.

The suspect, whose name was not released by police, is a 52 year old male who was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

Police are investigating the death of a Kingsbridge Heights man after officers found him with a handgun magazine.

No sooner was he out of the room, but Pritchett collapsed unconscious, prompting emergency services workers – already on the scene – to help him.
