Regular visitors to the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona might have noticed that while the rest of the facility reopened for business as usual after the closures in 2020 and 2021, the doors to the Lava nightclub have remained closed.

Anybody wondering what has been going on behind those closed doors for the past two years can finally satisfy their curiosity. The facility has announced the grand opening of a new speakeasy-style sports lounge called NY Rec & Social Club, which will open for business on December 06, 2023. It is just part of a $370 million investment program aimed at setting Turning Stone apart from the competition in New York’s vibrant and competitive casino industry, which features such facilities as Resorts World, Seneca Allegany and Del Lago Resort to name but three.

Sports betting a vital addition to the mix

The casino has always been at the heart of the Turning Stone resort, but one thing that has always been lacking is a sports book. The new lounge will put that to rights. It will feature a total of 60 HD screens for sports fans to keep up with the scores and watch live games. They will also be able to place bets right on the spot at the Caesar’s sports book.

As well as providing more gambling choices, the lounge will be a place where guests can sit and relax over light meals and a wide choice of cocktails, served from the central bar. The aim is to create a calmer and more relaxed vibe than visitors will remember from the days of Lava.

Turning Stone CEO Ray Halbritter said in a press release that NY Rec & Social Club would provide a “more playful” experience for customers. The lounge will feature seating for 200 plus social gaming facilities like Subbuteo, pool and billiards. There will also be some casino table games such as blackjack and 3-card poker.

Extending the casino facilities

These gambling games are in addition to an impressive existing offering on the resort’s main casino floor. This remains unchanged and includes slots, poker, table games and bingo:

  • More than 2,000 slot games mean something for everyone, from the “just for fun” penny slots players to more serious gamblers. If you play online casino, you might already know Megaways slots. These are games that offer bigger payouts and superior average returns. It is a winning combination and there are several  Megaways titles to play including King of Cats, Rainbow Riches and more.
  • Poker is a card game like no other, one that is played all over the world and where the top players are as famous and wealthy as sports stars. Turning Stone’s poker room has recently been expanded to include 35 tables including daily Texas Holdem tournaments and a great choice of cash games.
  • Bingo fans can join some of the biggest money games around. The facility recently updated the technology system and installed all new seating to provide optimum comfort for players who prefer to pursue the long game.
  • Table games represent the most traditional aspect of casino gaming and give us all a chance to channel our inner James Bond. Turning Stone has an impressive choice. As well as the usual games like Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette and Three Card Poker, there are other table games to try including Craps, Caribbean Stud Poker, Let it Ride, Mississippi Stud, Pai Gow, Four Card Poker, Sic Bo, Casino War and others.

The addition of a sports lounge with sportsbooks provides the missing piece and will make Turning Stone Resort one of the leading gambling resorts in the state. Perhaps the most exciting news, though, is that this is just one phase of what Turning Stone describes as a “$370 million evolution.”

The facility also offers accommodation, seven different dining experiences and an auditorium for live events. We cannot wait to see what comes next in the evolutionary process.
