Last week, LEAP NYC, a renowned program dedicated to encouraging young people to engage in the creative arts, hosted its annual Masterclass Showcase.

This event highlighted the extraordinary talents of the youth who participated in LEAP’s summer program. The showcase featured middle school students from across New York City’s five boroughs, each demonstrating their skills in a variety of creative arts, including dance, singing, and visual art. The students performed with enthusiasm and pride, eager to display the skills and knowledge they had acquired throughout the summer. Notably, several students from Assembly District 77 in the Bronx were featured. LEAP NYC is proud to serve over 6,700 youth in this district alone.

In a significant show of support, Assemblymember Landon Dais, who represents Assembly District 77, attended the Masterclass Showcase presenting a $25,000 check from state funding to support LEAP NYC’s initiatives. “At a young age, I was involved in various forms of creative arts and sports, which allowed me to express myself and develop into the person I am today,” said Assemblymember Landon Dais. “Having the opportunity to be creative and learn my passions was an invaluable experience, and I want more young people to have that same opportunity to explore their potential.”

“LEAP is deeply grateful for the generous funding from Assemblymember Dais. With this support, LEAP will continue to serve over 6,700 youth in District 77 through creative arts programs that inspire them to pursue their passions, develop their strengths, and amplify their voices,” said a spokesperson from LEAP NYC.

Founded in 1977, LEAP NYC is a non-profit organization that brings creative arts programs to young people across New York City. LEAP collaborates with approximately 140 schools across the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island, reaching over 20,000 students citywide. This program provides young people with valuable outlets to nurture their creativity. By investing in LEAP NYC, we provide our youth with a broader canvas to explore their creativity and push the boundaries of their potential.
