Kelvin Mata, 32, Arrested For The Murder Of Rafael Vasquez, 32

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at approximately 0733 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a person, shot in the vicinity of E. 180th Street and Creston Avenue, within the confines of the 46th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, police observed a 32-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with gunshot wounds to the face and back.

EMS responded and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 32-year-old male individual was arrested and charged on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 1108 hours, within the confines of the 46th Precinct.

Charges:

  • murder;
  • criminal possession firearm;
  • manslaughter in the 1st degree;
  • criminal sale of a controlled substance in tbe 5th degree, 1 count;
  • criminal sale of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, 82 counts;
  • criminal sale of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, 169 counts.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
