On Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., young people ages 14 to 21 are invited to the High Line park in Manhattan to experience the intergalactic Wild West for an out-of-this-world Teen Night: Cosmic Cowboy experience, amid the elevated park’s beautiful gardens and iconic city views.
The free, youth-led event features activities, art workshops, performances, an open-mic segment, snacks and food tasting, a scavenger hunt, and dancing. Teen Night, created and presented by teenagers participating in the High Line Fellows: Emerging Leaders Program, is the program’s annual blowout festival event for teens. Young people from across all five boroughs are encouraged to attend.
“Teen Night is an amazing party that really brings out the summer vibes,” said Jasiah Vega, a third-year High Line Fellow and Teen Night participant and organizer. “It has great food, fun games, and free accessories. It’s a great way to meet other teens my age and do something fun we all enjoy.”
“Each year, it’s amazing to see how the High Line’s Emerging Leaders Fellows combine their creativity and thoughtful planning to transform the park for Teen Night,” said Tennille Dowers, Youth & Career Development Manager for the High Line Emerging Leaders Program. “Producing Teen Night offers the Fellows the opportunity to hone their professional skillsets in the realms of event planning and cultivating a positive visitor experience, a highlight of their work in the Emerging Leaders Program. It’s a great moment to see young New Yorkers come together to reimagine what public space can be, and a reminder of the community resource the High Line offers.”
Visitors will enter and check into the event at the 14th Street entrance to the High Line, and continue on to the covered section of the park, located between 15th and 16th Streets in Manhattan. There they will encounter an intergalactic Wild West odyssey, with alien, astronaut, and cowboy themed decor and activities. The theme is inspired by the High Line’s reputation as a “park in the sky” and the “West Side cowboys” of the neighborhood’s past, who used to ride horseback along 10th Avenue to warn pedestrians of coming street-level trains. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the “Cosmic Cowboy” theme and wear cowboy- or space-inspired outfits.
Each visitor will receive free snack vouchers for an array of delicious food vendors within the event space, and additional refreshments will be available for purchase. All ages are welcome, though this is a teen-led event, with activities geared towards youth ages 14-21.
Visitors who register on Eventbrit here by May 27, 2025, to be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. The winner will be announced at the event. Walk-ups are welcome, although there may be a wait if the event is at capacity. If there is inclement weather, the rain date for the event is June 6, 2025, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The closest subway stations are the A/C/E/L at 14th Street and 8th Avenue, or the 1/2/3 at 14th Street and 7th Avenue. The park is fully accessible, with stairs and an elevator at the 14th Street entrance. For more information about how to get to the High Line and more, please visit thehighline.org/visit.
About High Line Fellows: Emerging Leaders Program
The event is organized by the fellows in the High Line Fellows: Emerging Leaders Program. The High Line Fellows: Emerging Leaders Program is a paid opportunity for local youth, ages 15 to 18, focused on skills-building and leadership development through civic engagement, arts and culture, horticulture and sustainability, public programs, and strategic partnerships. For up to three years, Fellows gain professional skills and hands-on experience as critical practitioners while building connections with other teens in public spaces throughout the city.
About The High Line
The High Line is a public park on the West Side of Manhattan operated, maintained, and funded by the nonprofit conservancy Friends of the High Line. Through our work with communities on and off the High Line, Friends of the High Line is devoted to reimagining public spaces to create connected, healthy neighborhoods and cities.
Built on a historic, elevated rail line, the High Line was always intended to be more than a park. You can walk through the gardens, view art, experience a performance, enjoy food or beverage, or connect with friends and neighbors—all while enjoying a unique perspective of New York City.
Nearly 100% of our annual budget comes through donations. The High Line is owned by the City of New York, and we operate the park under a license agreement with NYC Parks.
