Gregory Almonte, 18 & Aro Matos, 25, Arrested For The Murder Of Jayshua Nivar, 20

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at approximately 0409 hours, police responded to a male, shot in front of 717 E. 187th Street, within the confines of the 48th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 20-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with two (2) gunshot wounds to the head and one (1) gunshot wound to his hip.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 25-year-old male individual was arrested and charged in regard to the above-listed homicide.

Charges:

  • murder;
  • manslaughter;
  • criminal possession of a weapon (2 counts).

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 18-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged in regard to the above-listed homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing.
