Update On The NYPD Response To The Coronavirus Outbreak

Sick Report Daily Update

On Friday, May 15, 2020, 1,157 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 3.20% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 5,552 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.

As of today, Friday, May 15, 2020, 5,305 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 150 uniformed members plus 55 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus.

Let us remember and pray for the 42 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.

Citywide Patrols

Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.

Between 08:00 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2020:

  • NYPD officers visited 3,054 supermarkets and pharmacies of which 1,344 were closed.
  • NYPD officers visited 6,825 bars and restaurants of which 5,315 were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 1,221 public places of which 831 were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 3,097 personal care facilities of which 3,097 were closed. 

Social Distancing Enforcement

On May 14, 2020, there were two summonses issued in regard to social distancing enforcement and one arrest for Obstructing Governmental Administration.
