A Bronx infant died Tuesday, and police were investigating whether it was at the hands of the person who was supposed to take care of him.
Authorities said they responded Tuesday morning to an apartment on West 225th Street in the Marble Hill Houses in Kingsbridge Heights, where they found nine-month-old Ryan Ferrer unconscious.
Ryan was rushed to Montefiore Hospital, where he died.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the child’s 17-year-old babysitter may be responsible.
“Apparently he lost his temper and struck the baby in the stomach and the baby died. And he has made statements to the effect,” said Kelly.
The city medical examiner will determine the cause of Ryan’s death.
The Administration for Children’s Services said Tuesday it is working with police in the investigation.
