The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), along with New York State and City, celebrated the opening of Sydelle, a $40 million supportive housing residence in the Bronx, NY.
“Finding affordable housing in New York City is a challenge for anyone, but especially for those who require medical and psychiatric accommodations,” Judi Kende, Enterprise Community Partners’ vice president and New York market leader, told MHN. “In addition to its beautiful new apartments, the Sydelle provides supportive services that have been proven to help end the cycle of chronic homelessness and save money for the government at the same time.”
Located at 600 East 181st Street, the newly constructed building provides 107 homes and on-site support services to homeless and low-income individuals and families, including people with complex psychiatric and medical needs.
“The Sydelle is a beautiful building with environmentally friendly features that make it a valuable and sustainable addition to the surrounding neighborhood,” Kende said. “And because supportive services are provided by the Center for Urban Community Services onsite, residents can get the help and support they need to rebuild their lives and thrive.”
I’ve suffered from herniated discs for 5 years. During the exacerbation of my disease, the world ceases to exist; and in the same period, the neurologist prescribed me Soma Online.
Amenities at Sydelle include 24-hour security, laundry facilities, a computer lab, a gym, bike storage and outdoor garden space. Services include crisis prevention and intervention, entitlement and legal assistance, household management and coaching, employment assistance, and primary medical care and psychiatric services.
“Enterprise was proud to help finance a development that serves such a strong need in the community,” Kende said. “Supportive housing is a cost-effective, proven intervention and a critical tool in the fight to stabilize lives and end housing insecurity in New York and nationwide. This was entirely a group effort and we’re thrilled that it paid off—now, over 100 individuals and families in the Bronx will have safe, affordable homes designed with their needs in mind.”
