The driver was then wounded by another officer who fired at him. The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday in Bronx.
Police say the officer and a detective in plainclothes were approaching a car when the driver hit the officer. The other officer fired once, hitting the 31-year-old driver in the leg.
Authorities say the driver fled, but hit a parked car some distance away. He was taken into custody and was in stable condition at the hospital.
