On Saturday, May 30, 2020, at approximately 2222 hours, in front 80 University Place, an unidentified individual threw a brick striking a 35-year-old male police officer on the helmet, before fleeing west bound on East 11th Street, then southbound on 5th Avenue within the confines of the 6th Precinct in Manhattan.
The officer sustained a laceration and swelling to his face.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the officer to an area hospital where he was treated and subsequently released.
The individual is described as a male, light complexion, thin build with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black backpack, black pants and black sneakers.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation the following 25-year-old male individual was arrested on July 20, 2020 at 0830 hours.
