Older adults from across New York City will put on their dancing shoes and masquerade masks for a lively afternoon of music, dancing and socializing on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Maestro’s Caterers, 1703 Bronxdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. Similar celebrations have attracted hundreds of attendees, bringing older New Yorkers together for an opportunity to connect and celebrate.
Hosted by the Institute for the Puerto Rican / Hispanic Elderly (IPRHE), an affiliate of Acacia Network, the Masquerade Ball will feature festive costumes, a masquerade mask contest, and a live flamenco performance.
Beyond the festivities, the event highlights the importance of social connection for older adults. Isolation and loneliness can negatively affect physical and mental health, while meaningful relationships, social activities, and active engagement support healthy aging and overall well-being.
Founded in 1978, IPRHE operates six older adult centers in partnership with the New York City Department for the Aging, providing culturally responsive programs and opportunities that help older New Yorkers remain active, engaged, and connected to their communities.
