Bronx Man Dies After Falling Off Bicycle

A Bronx man died Saturday, November 17, 2012 after he collapsed on the handlebars of his bicycle, fell and struck his head, suffering a chest injury from the handlebars that doctors initially thought was a gunshot wound.

Joseph Clemente, 64, fell about 4 p.m. Saturday on the bike path near Seminary Hill Road and was taken by ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:59 p.m.

A cause of death has not been determined, but Clemente was not shot, as doctors originally believed, police said. He was not wearing a helmet.
