James Gaines, 46, Murdered

On Friday, August 22, 2025, at approximately 1751 hours, police received a 911 call reporting a male, shot at the intersection of E. 164th Street and Washington Avenue, within the confines of the 42nd Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 46-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the neck.

EMS responded and transported the victim in critical condition to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where they were later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
