On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, WellLife Network, along with partners, funders, and local elected officials, broke ground on White Plains Road Apartments, an $87 million, 8-story supportive housing development in Williamsbridge that will create 136 affordable homes, including 82 supportive units for formerly homeless individuals and an additional 53 affordable 1-,2-, and 3-bedroom units.

“White Plains Road Apartments represent more than just brick and mortar—they are a symbol of hope, stability, and opportunity,” said Sherry Tucker, CEO of WellLife Network. “By expanding access to badly needed affordable and supportive housing, we are investing in the future of individuals and families who deserve a safe place to call home. This development underscores WellLife’s commitment to ensuring that every New Yorker has the resources they need to thrive.”
The start of construction on this project comes on the heels of a report from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office showing that homelessness in the Empire State grew by 53.1% from January 2023 to January 2024, more than four times the rest of the nation. The same report found that from 2022 to 2024, the number of homeless children grew by more than 30,000 to 50,773. This development will help address this issue in the Bronx and supports Governor Hochul’s $25 billion, five-year Housing Plan which is on track to create or preserve 100,000 affordable homes statewide.
Located at 3663 White Plains Road, just blocks from the Gun Hill Road subway station, White Plains Road Apartments will have sustainable operating practices, with 24/7 supportive staffing from WellLife Network, onsite property management and maintenance, and amenities like parking, a fitness center, courtyard, and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
The development will also be all-electric and highly energy efficient, meeting Enterprise Green Communities 2020 and Energy Star Multifamily New Construction Program criteria. Efficiency measures include on-site solar panels, sedum green roof, Energy Star appliances, a central cold climate heat pump water heating system, an energy recovery ventilator and two electric vehicle charging stations.
This building became a reality through a partnership between State, City, and private supporters. Funding for this project was made possible through public funds from Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), NYS Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) and Chase, with the steadfast support of Governor Hochul.
