What You Must Know When Representing Yourself In Civil Court

The Committee on Equality in the Courts, co-chaired by Hon. Elizabeth A. Taylor and Hon. Eddie J. McShan – together with Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and the Bronx County Bar Association (President Renee Hill, Esq.) – will present a free educational program titled “What You Must Know When Representing Yourself in Court – Civil Matters.”

The event will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Rotunda of the Bronx Supreme Court at 851 Grand Concourse (161st Street), Bronx, NY 10451.

The program is intended for individuals without attorneys and will introduce participants to their responsibilities and the procedures involved in self-representation in civil court cases. The organizers stress that the session is purely informational – no legal advice will be given or allowed.

Panelists include Jessica Brenes, Esq.; Lakisha Brown (Chief Clerk); Isabel Bucaram, Esq.; Brian Kantor (Principal Court Clerk); Albert Levi, Esq.; Tishawna D. Salaam (Associate Law Clerk); Michelle A. Santiago, Esq.; and Justice Elizabeth A. Taylor. The moderator is Justice Eddie J. McShan.
