I urge you to ask yourself a simple question today: What does the Fourth of July mean to you?
With lingering food shortages, rapid inflation, historically high gas prices, and a threatened national security position, it is easy to lose sight of the real meaning behind this Independence Day. The Fourth of July reminds me that no matter the chaos surrounding our Nation, we can always unite under the America First principles of faith and patriotism.
Since 1776, the Declaration of Independence has assured us that our fundamental rights come to us from God, not the government: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Through those famous words, our Founders inscribed the concept of natural rights into one of our cornerstone documents. For more than 245 years, America has been a Nation built on faith.
I remember a time when Americans, surrounded by family and friends, celebrated their freedoms with smiles on their faces, gazing at fireworks above. In these divisive times, let us allow patriotism to be a unifier once again. Let us continue our devotion to constantly building “a more perfect Union” and always strive for a better tomorrow.
I have always believed that in America, you are not born a winner nor a loser. You are what you make yourself to be. America is the greatest self-made country on Earth. Here, with the right attitude and work ethic, everyone has the opportunity to be a winner and live the American Dream. That should be celebrated and never forgotten!
We should all be proud to live in this country of endless opportunity and be inspired each day to take advantage of those opportunities by working to our fullest potential.
Remain steadfast in your faith and proudly celebrate today and the great freedoms this country affords you.
