St. Ann’s Corner of Harm Reduction (SACHR) will be presenting The Bronx Has Talent! at the Pregones Theater on Friday, July 20th from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Featuring the many talents of agency participants, the event will aim to educate attendees about how harm reduction can be used to combat the opioid crisis. It will also explore the role of stigma as a damaging force in our society’s treatment of drug users and other marginalized groups. The event is ticketed, and proceeds will help support SACHR as they continue to support a community in need.
“Working in South Bronx for over 30 years and as a Bronx native, I have seen greater damage caused by our judgments and how we treat individuals who use drugs than by the drugs themselves. This event will peel off stigma and leave you with a new look on individuals who have/currently use drugs. These are our friends, family and neighbors” said, Joyce A. Rivera, Founder and Executive Director. “This event will open your eyes to the reality of drug users. Open up, let it in, feel the difference, change your views.” said Bart Majoor, Deputy and Clinical Director.
SACHR has been serving the South Bronx community since 1990. The nonprofit offers a myriad of key services at no cost to participants, including syringe access, mental health counseling, HIV/HCV testing, freshly cooked meals, overdose prevention strategies, and more.
