Friends gathered at Maloney High School in Meriden, CT to remember classmate Tashawn Bromfield, 16, who police said was shot in the Bronx in an apparent drive-by shooting.

Bromfield, a Meriden resident, was sitting in front of a residence on Fenton Avenue around 12:40 a.m. Saturday morning. Witnesses told police someone shot at Bromfield from a sedan driving by.

Bromfield was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Students were able to speak with grief counselors at Maloney High School Saturday and again on Monday.

Police were still trying to determine a motive in the shooting and said the shooting appeared to have been random.
