On Monday, March 11, 2019, at approximately 1802 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Boston Road and Wilkins Avenue, within the confines of the 42 Precinct in Bronx.

Upon arrival, responding officers encountered an unconscious 80-year-old female with trauma to the body. EMS responded to the location and transported the female to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The 52-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The preliminary investigation conducted by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the 80-year-old female was walking east to west across Boston Road inside a marked crosswalk on the north side of Wilkins Avenue, when the 52-year-operator of a 2010 Chevrolet yellow Express school bus struck her as it made a right turn from eastbound Wilkins Road. The vehicle operator remained at the scene. There were no children aboard the bus.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following individual has been arrested and charged on March 11, 2019:
