Our Saviour Lutheran High School (OSL) is announcing two full-tuition scholarships for deserving students who are entering the ninth grade for the 2011-2012 school year.
OSL is a Regents Diploma granting, Christian school that has been preparing God’s children for life for the past 69 years. With small class sizes and a commitment to individualized attention for our students, OSL sends over 90% of our students to the college of their choice each year.
For the upcoming school year, we would like to identify, two youth within our community who demonstrate exceptional character and a commitment to their families and communities. The ideal nominee will be a student who demonstrates hard work, achievement, and character in ways that are not always reflected on a report card. This is a non-traditional scholarship and students who otherwise might not be eligible to attend a private school due to finances or less than perfect grades are encouraged to apply.
Winners will be announced at a press conference in early August, by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr, and will receive a full-tuition scholarship to OSL for the 2011-2012 school year. The scholarship is renewable for four years provided the student maintains academic and behavioral standards.
Parents, teachers, community leaders, pastors, or others familiar with an individual student’s achievements are welcome to nominate them by writing a letter outlining why the student is deserving of the scholarship. The letter should give specific evidence of the student’s character and dedication, and provide references with contact information, and the name of the student’s current school. Nominations must be received by July 29, 2011.
Nominations may be sent to:
