A construction worker caught in a building collapse in Bronx has died.

Muhammed Kebbeh, 51, died at Jacobi Medical Center hours after being pulled from under six feet of bricks and debris.

The two-story commercial building at 1173 Stratford Avenue in Soundview came down shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Fire officials say the building was being renovated and that a column collapsed, bringing down the top floors.

Firefighters dug out the construction worker, who was trapped under the debris for about 10 minutes.

One witness said the collapse sounded like an earthquake.

“Something hit me, like, you know. That’s when I looked up and it was just like shaking, and it just fell down,” said the witness.

“It doesn’t appear to be weather-related. It appears to be a construction problem. There was active construction going on in the building at the time of the collapse,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Donlevy.

Donlevy said the Department of Buildings will survey the site and decide if the building should be demolished.
