Margaret E. “Mad Marge” Romash of Newburgh entered into eternal rest on October 21, 2013 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 74 years old.

The daughter of the late George and Anna (Zidzik) Klotko, Marge was born on November 6, 1938 in Bronx, NY. She attended grade school at P.S. 4 in Bronx and was a graduate of Grace Dodge High School in the Bronx. She married Stanley F. Romash on February 8, 1958 in Bronx.

Marge was a bank teller at Manhattan Trust in Greenwich Village, NY and a part owner of Gate Luncheonette in Vails Gate, NY. Her favorite occupation however, was as a devout wife and mother.

Mom was a talented and active woman all of her life. She was a fantastic cook and she and Dad had a luncheonette for several years. Mom also was a member of the Newburgh City School District Committee on Special Education and she was a dedicated advocate for students with special needs. She earned her nickname through her vibrant personality and willingness to help others in need. She found pleasure in playing the daily numbers, trying her luck with scratch-offs and clipping coupons for friends and family.

Marge was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed Mass with Father Bill at Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s in Newburgh.

Margaret is survived by her children: Ann Crana and her fiance, Tim Rodenski of Newburgh, Stanley M. Romash of Newburgh, Karen Gorski and her husband, Stephen of Saugerties and her pride and joy, Lucy Jane Romash; her siblings: Steve Klotko and his wife, Tita of Puerto Rico, Maryann Mazza of Newburgh, Gloria Mattiuzzi of Montgomery; her granddaughters: Brianna Plonski of Saugerties and Brittany Vernoy of Saugerties; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marge was predeceased by her brothers: George and John Klotko and her brother-in-law, Lewis Mazza.
