On Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 0504 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision, involving a pedestrian at Grand Concourse and E. 164th Street, within the confines of the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District s Collision Investigation Squad determined a 2020 Volkswagen sedan was traveling southbound on Grand Concourse and struck the pedestrian, a 75-year-old female, who was crossing Grand Concourse at E. 164th Street from East to West in the crosswalk with the pedestrian signal in her favor.
The sedan fled the scene.
EMS responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased on scene.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, the following 25-year-old male individual was arrested and charged on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 1945 hours, within the confines of the 44th Precinct.

Charges:
- reckless driving;
- criminally negligent homicide;
- manslaughter in the 2nd degree;
- leaving the scene of an accident;
- aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 1st degree.
The investigation remains ongoing.
