Police are on the hunt for a man who they say walked away from a livery cab without paying and then punched the cab driver when he was pursued.

Officials said the 47-year-old male livery cab driver picked the suspect up on Madison Avenue in Manhattan and took him to 710 Tinton Avenue, in Bronx.

Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly told the victim that his girlfriend was going to pay the fare, at which point the cab driver locked the suspect inside the cab.

Police said once the girlfriend arrived, the victim unlocked the doors and the suspect got out. The suspect then allegedly told the girlfriend not to pay the driver and both began to walk away.

As the victim followed the suspect, attempting to take a photo of the him, the suspect punched the driver in the face and fled the scene, police said.

The cab driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police described the suspect as a black male, 5’6″ tall and weighing 160 pounds.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit NYPDCrimestoppers.com.
