Kenhy Sarrias-Buelvas, 37, Arrested For The Murder Of Kemari Sanders, 16

It was reported to police that on Friday, August 23, 2024 at approximately 0040 hours, the victim, a 16-year-old male was walking in the corner of Bryant Avenue and Jennings Street, within the confines of the 42nd Precinct in the Bronx, when an unidentified male individual fired a gun shot at the victim, causing him to sustain a gunshot wound to the neck.

The male individual fled northbound on Bryant Avenue. The victim was removed to NYC Health + Hospitals / North Central Bronx St. Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The victim succumbed to his injuries on Friday, October 4, 2024. This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 37-year-old male individual was arrested and charged on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 1355 hours, within the confines of the 42nd Precinct.

Charges:

  • murder in the 2nd degree;
  • manslaughter in the 1st degree;
  • criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree (2 counts).

The investigation remains ongoing.
