It was reported to the police that on Friday, January 24, 2020 at approximately 1010 hours, inside of 217 Saint Ann’s Avenue (deli), within the confines of the 40 Precinct in Bronx, an 84-year old female victim was waiting to make a purchase with money in her hand when an unknown female individual approached the victim and snatched the $20 bill she was holding.

The female individual then fled on foot, westbound on E. 138th Street.

The victim was not reported injured.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation in regard to the above-described incident, the following 31-year-old female individual has been arrested and charged.

Arrested:

Joanne Garcia
1308 St. Lawrence Street
Bronx, NY 10472

Charges:

  • robbery 3rd degree
  • grand larceny 4th degree

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
