Jets announced late last night that they have agreed on a 5 year deal for former Broncos WR, Eric Decker.
Decker flew into Newark, late on Tuesday to meet with John Idzik and company to discuss contract negotiations. The following day, head coach Rex Ryan and other Jets players were reportedly having dinner with Decker to talk about a deal.
The deal for Decker includes 5 years, worth $36.25M with $15M guaranteed.
It was a big step up for the Jets to acquire Decker, knowing the fact that he was labeled as one of the top prospects in free agency. Last season, Decker had 87 catches, 1,288 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns with Denver.
Not to mention, the Jets released Santonio Holmes earlier this week, which freed up cap space and a slot for another wide receiver.
Decker will provide QB Geno Smith more options to throw to, other than WR Jeremy Kerley who is basically the Jets’ number one receiver.
